September 19th is the date that has been designated International Talk Like A Pirate Day, at least by the founders of www.talklikeapirate.com/. So if you find that your friends are acting like drunken sailors it may not be the booze that’s talking, just the internet that has got to them.
Facebook actually allows you to change your language to English(Pirate). To do this just follow these simple instructions:
First of all go to your account settings and then click on edit Language from the drop down list choose English(Pirate) and then click on Save Changes.
That’s it, you will now find that your Facebook experience is now worthy of a skull and crossbones and before you know it you’ll be the scourge of the Spanish Main! As this screenshot shows demonstrates it really does change the way that your information is displayed on Facebook:
Welcome becomes Ahoy! News Feed is now Captains Log. Messages becomes Bottle o’messages. Events becomes Grog Fests and Find Friends is now Scour For Mateys. You may also note that you are give the title of Cap’n.
If you want to change it back your native language then simply click the down arrow by Home Port in the top right of the screen and then choose Ye Ship’s Rigging (Account Settings) and then click on Mend th’sails (Edit) next to Tongue (Language) and choose your own language again, remembering to click on Stow Changes (Save Changes).
Well, me hearties, I’ve got to hoist the mainsail so I will leave you to enjoy the rest of International Talk Like A Pirate Day. Ha Har!
