Browser Wars – local version

I thought I would let everybody know who is winning the browser wars, on my site at least.

I thought I would let everybody know who is winning the browser wars, on my site at least. So, once a month I am going to publish the breakdown of the various browsers that have been accessing my site. This is the first list:

Internet Explorer                   42.19%
Safari                                            25.00%
Firefox                                         20.31%
Mozilla Compatible Agent    6.25%
Chrome                                         3.12%
BlackBerry9700                       1.56%
Opera Mini                                   1.56%

As you can see although Internet Explorer has the largest share it is a much lower share than many people would probably expect. I think the last figures I saw said that overall IE had just under 60% market share. I would attribute my much lower figure to the fact that many of you that read these posts are pretty tech savvy and are happy to try other browsers rather than just settling for the default one that shipped with your machine. I thought Chrome would have appeared a lot higher up the list than it has.

I also see that there are some mobile browsers starting to appear, so I guess it really is time that I made the entire site more mobile friendly!
